Vapage e-cigarettes seem to be picking up steam with more loyal fans everyday. I recently tried the Vapage Premium E-Cigarette Kit and I have to say that this brand is definitely a good option. Check out my Vapage review to see how it ranked when I gave it a try…
When I first received the kit, I was impressed. The metal case is the first thing I noticed because it was very sturdy and definitely unique. Contents of my kit were listed on the back of the package along with a QR code that takes you to the Vapage website. The user’s manual was very professional and printed nicely with a great color design. Right away, I notice the information that my Vapage e-cig was designed in California and made in China.
The Vapage Premium E-Cigarette Kit included:
- 3 batteries (2 white, 1 black)
- 10 cartridges (5 Classic Tobacco, 5 Red Tobacco)
- USB charger
- Wall charger
- Car adapter
- User Manual
- Warranty Registration Card
Right away, I checked out the different components. The white batteries have a reddish orange glowing tip and they look more like an analog cigarette. The black battery has a blue tip and it is definitely my favorite in terms of design.
Giving It a Try
The first cartridge I tried was the 18mg Classic. The cartridges included in my kit were all a gray color and I really didn’t like the way they looked paired with the black battery. They look okay with the white battery, but the gray design made the black battery look a little cheap.
When I used my Vapage e-cig for the first time, I immediately noted that it had a good, easy draw. It did need a little priming and the vapor wasn’t the most consistent at first. After a few minutes of experimenting, I figured out the trick to make Vapage work correctly. The key is to go slowly and take a draw by expanding your cheeks rather than sucking in and inhaling like you would with a regular cigarette.
Review continues after kit comparison table...
Because you have to really know what you’re doing to get a great vaping experience out of it, I probably wouldn’t recommend Vapage for someone who has never used e-cigs before. Once you figure out how to use it properly, the vapor production is pretty good. Overall, I would compare the amount of vapor to what you get from Premium or V2 Cigs.
In terms of flavor, I felt like the Classic Tobacco flavor was really lacking. It was almost tasteless, kind of like an ultra-light. It reminded me of Korean cigarettes with charcoal filters. Fortunately, what the Classic Tobacco cartridge lacked in flavor, it made up for with throat hit!
Next, I tried the Red Tobacco 18 mg cartridge. Based on the name, I was expecting a taste similar to Marlboro Red, but it didn’t really compare at all. The Red Tobacco had a much sweeter tobacco taste, but it wasn’t bad. This cartridge had a stronger throat hit than the Classic Tobacco. Vapage claims that each cartridge lasts as long as a pack of analog cigarettes and I would agree so I give them extra points for integrity in their advertising.
I also tried the other flavors Vapage offers even though they weren’t included in the starter kit. It turned out to be a good decision because the additional flavors were among my favorites. All of the cartridges that I tried (other than the gray ones included in the kit) were tan colored and had a more traditional cigarette design.
The Blue Frost cartridge was 24 mg and it provided a really strong throat hit. For a heavy smoker, this would be perfect, but it was a little overwhelming for me. I would probably have preferred a little lower nicotine strength. The flavor was actually really great on the Blue Frost cartridges.
It was similar to Marlboro Menthol with a good minty taste. It was definitely one of the best menthols I have tried. It also had a pretty decent vapor production, but it was a little less than the classic tobacco cartridge. That’s pretty typical for menthol cartridges because the flavoring additives can change the amount of vapor the e-cig will produce.
Next I tried the Coffee flavor in 8 mg strength. I’ll be honest here… I really don’t like coffee at all so I’m probably not the best one to evaluate this flavor. Overall, I’ll say it did taste like coffee beans so if you love coffee, it won’t disappoint. Vapor production was a little less than the Blue Frost, but still solid. The lower nicotine content gave it a milder throat hit and it did need priming, just like the others.
The next cartridge was a Pina Colada 24mg. As soon as I opened the pack, it smelled like pineapple. Yum! The taste was really sweet and pretty close to a pina colada, but not exact. It was a really fresh, summery taste and it would pair great with a cocktail or mixed drink.
The Pina Colada cartridge had pretty good vapor production, but there was a little weaker throat hit. That’s actually a good thing if you don’t like a really strong throat hit but you want the extra nicotine content. Overall, I really liked this flavor.
Finally, I tried the Cherry cartridge in 24 mg. This one had a really unique taste, similar to a red jolly rancher. It didn’t taste like other cherry brands I’ve tried in the past… it was better. It left a nice cherry aftertaste too. The vapor was a little stronger than the pina colada cartridge and that surprised me. Usually, cherry flavored cartridges have lighter vapor production so if you are a cherry fan and you want heavier vapor, Vapage might be a great choice.
After trying all of the cartridges and using my Vapage e-cig for a while, I would rate the Vapage brand as slightly above average. The only real drawbacks for me would be the ease of use (not a good choice for beginners!) and the price. At $99.99 for this kit, I felt like the price tag was a little too high compared to similar e-cigs. But ultimately, Vapage offers a good variety in flavors and nicotine strength. Their packaging is unique and attractive and the e-cig offers a pretty decent vaping experience overall.
