Five Fantastic Reasons To Quit Smoking With Vaping Five Fantastic Reasons To Quit Smoking With Vaping

It’s a new year, and with it comes the best time to make a positive change for the health of you and your loved ones

For many people, the start of a new year is the perfect time to start working on themselves. Millions of smokers around the world continue to battle with smoking every day, but there is now a more natural way to quit for good. Over the last ten years, lots of peer-reviewed research has been published that proves vaping is the clear-cut choice for smokers looking to quit. Even as recently as last November, research has confirmed that e-cigarettes are more successful at helping smokers off cigarettes than any other smoking cessation method we currently have. That includes nicotine patches/gum, as well as prescription drugs. Given that smoking is often considered one of the hardest habits to break, anything that can consistently help over half of the smokers quit should be seen as a godsend. But just in case you wanted more reasons why making the switch to vaping is the right choice, here’s our list of the five best reasons to try quitting by using e-cigarettes.

Vaping Is “At Least 95% Safer” Than Smoking

Probably the most important and well-known reason to make the switch to vaping is that e-cigarettes are much less harmful than traditional cigarettes. In fact, a famous 2015 study published by Public Health England (England’s governmental health agency) found that vaping is “at least 95% safer than cigarettes.” This finding has since been corroborated by many other researchers that have observed very similar figures. For instance, a study performed by Dr. Robert Cranfield found that vaping was around 96% safer than smoking.

Even more impressive, a study from last year published in the Journal of Aerosol Science found that the Excess Lifetime Cancer Risk of vapers is around 57,000 times lower than a cigarette smoker. Findings like these make it clear that vaping is hands down safer than smoking. But unfortunately, not enough people seem to understand this, with polls finding that only around 13% of the general public see vaping as much less harmful. What’s more discouraging is that the same polls find approximately 26% of people think that vaping is at least as dangerous, if not more dangerous, than combustible cigarettes. It’s clear that more needs to be done to convince individuals that vaping is a clear-cut safer choice.

Vaping Is A Lot Cheaper Than Smoking

The price of cigarettes is continuing to skyrocket no matter where you live. But especially for those living in highly taxed states like New York, holding onto your smoking habit can be costly to more than just your health. Other countries, such as Australia are even considering taxes that could make a pack of cigarettes cost upwards of 40 dollars! What’s surprising is just how few smokers actually understand that vaping is a lot cheaper.

The initial cost of vaping can be more expensive, especially if you opt for more powerful devices, but no matter what you go with, you’ll be saving hundreds over the course of a year. A ten dollar bottle of e-liquid lasts most vapers a full week or two, outpacing even the most moderate smoker. You Can Slowly Reduce Your Intake Of Nicotine

One of the best ways to further reduce your risk exposure is to reduce the level of nicotine in your e-liquids slowly. Most every brand of e-liquid now offers their flavors in several different nicotine strengths; including none at all. This can be extremely useful for those who would like to stop taking nicotine but have had no luck with cold turkey attempts in the past. Not only that, but it also gives you better control over exactly what kind of experience you have, regardless if you are looking to eliminate nicotine or not.

Vaping Is Less Addictive Than Smoking

Many smokers believe that it’s the nicotine in cigarettes that makes them so addictive. While this is partially true, (nicotine is an addictive substance) the truth is that cigarette companies have added many substances and chemicals to their traditional cigarettes to maximize their addictivity. These are the substances that are the most deadly, with many of them now known to be carcinogenic. A recent Harvard University study indicated that the additives in cigarettes are what leads to addiction, not the nicotine alone.

E-liquids on the other hand only contain four ingredients, Propylene Glycol (PG), Vegetable Glycerin (VG), nicotine, and natural or artificial flavorings. While PG and VG can both sound scary, they’re actually ubiquitous and safe substances. PG is used to carry the flavor, and as such it’s used in many food coloring and medicines. VG is made from vegetables and is a thick liquid that is mixed with PG to create an optimal viscosity. By itself, it’s often used as a sweetener or preservative.

Vaping Activates Psychological Cues That Help Satisfy Smokers

It’s not uncommon for new vapers to take a few hours or days to adjust to the change. Small differences such as how much you should inhale or how to get the best vapor out our your device can make a big difference. But after that short period, most people agree that they hardly miss smoking at all. They’re getting the same rush of nicotine and doing so through a litany of different flavors.

Something that may also contribute to the success of vaping as a smoking cessation tool is its ability to activate psychological cues associated with smoking. The British Psychological Society recently released new guidelines that suggested precisely this. They believe that the act of bringing your hand to your face and placing something in your mouth, as well as seeing a cloud produced is key to making vaping more successful than other popular smoking cessation tools such as nicotine patches.

There have never been more reasons to make the switch from smoking to vaping. Scientists are beginning to reach a strong consensus that vaping is much less dangerous than smoking, around 95% safer by reasonable estimates. With the vaping industry continuing to grow at an exponential rate, there’s no lack of quality devices and e-liquids to choose from. They’re all going to save you money in the long run, but more importantly, making the switch to vaping could actually save your life!

Do you know anyone who has used vaping to quit cigarettes? What do you think is the best advantage making the switch? Are there are any potential negatives you can think of about making a switch? Let us know in the comments.
