The average consumer has been bombarded with negative information about cigarettes for years. An estimated 400,000 American persons die from smoking related deaths each year. Tobacco cigarettes have been found to cause cancer and cardio vascular disease, and are linked to high blood pressure and diabetes, among other illnesses. Even second hand smoke has been proven to have adverse medical affects. Because of this, many states and counties within the United States have banned smoking in public places, leaving many smokers out in the cold, sometimes literally.

Just recently, an alternative to conventional cigarettes has come on the market in the United States. The electronic cigarette, or e-cigarette, is a battery powered device that provides inhaled doses of nicotine by delivering a vaporized liquid nicotine solution. In addition to delivering inhaled nicotine, electric cigarettes provide a flavor and physical sensation similar to that of inhaled tobacco smoke, but without involving tobacco, smoke or any form of combustion in its operation.

How do electronic cigarettes work? Though there are many variations on the market today, from the “pen-style” to those that look like an actual tobacco cigarette, e-cigarettes generally employ the same basic components: circuitry, a rechargeable battery, an atomizer and a mouthpiece, and all models operate in the same basic way. When it is inhaled upon, the air activates the atomizer to vaporize a small amount of liquid contained within the cartridge in the filter, which is in actuality a plastic mouthpiece.

Electric cigarettes mimic tobacco cigarettes in many ways. The nicotine cartridges come in varying strengths (high, medium, low or zero nicotine), as well as tobacco or menthol flavoring. Upon inhalation, a dose of nicotine courses through the body. However, there are marked differences between e-cigarettes and tobacco cigarettes. Although e-cigarettes contain nicotine, they do not contain cancer carcinogens such as tar. There is no flame involved, so fire is less likely to occur with electric cigarettes. Since there is no fire, there is no ash to be flung about with the electric cigarette and the vapor has the appearance of smoke, but neither smells nor lingers. The waste from electronic cigarettes is considerably less. Instead of as many as twenty cigarette butts and one or two empty boxes, there is one small plastic mouthpiece and one cartridge. The positive impact on the environment from that alone is staggering.

E-cigarettes can also save the user money. Many smokers spend upwards of $1000 on cigarettes every year. However, the cost of electronic cigarettes is around $2.50 per pack in comparison to regular cigarettes. One cartridge for electronic cigarettes has been known to last the equivalent of two packs of regular cigarettes. Reasonably priced electric cigarettes can be found with ease online, along with replacement cartridges, mouthpieces and batteries.

Knowing that smoking tobacco cigarettes is harmful to their health and the health of others has caused some to attempt to stop smoking. Though e-cigarettes have not been tested or proven to aid in smoking cessation, many electric cigarette reviews found online have stated an ease in transition from regular cigarettes to electronic cigarettes. The growing benefits of electronic cigarettes are quickly making this device one of the greatest little discoveries of our time.

I love my e cigg. I bought the dse901 and it was an amazingly easy transition from the analog smokes. Plus I already feel the benefits after only 2 months! I felt the original benefits within the first week or two. I even remember the morning after I quit analogs my lungs felt better and I didn’t have to hack up a lung. It provides a cleaner feeling nic fix cause when my first atomizer broke (I suggest you buy 2 units cause they are so cheap and you don’t want to be left w/o a spare) and I needed a cig so bad I smoked one and almost puked from the nasty sick feeling like when I smoked my first cig! I got my mom vaping (alt to smoking)now and my dad with his bad lungs feels better from not having all that second hand smoke. These are amazing and they should be backed by the fda and I think they would be insane mass murderers to shut them down!

I was a regular smoker for 6+ years. Now I have been using my ecig since mid-April 2010. By May I was back in the gym and exercising with ease, my sense of smell returned, and I felt like a new person. Since then, my running stamina improved and now I am thinking about to join a football club which is my dream. This would not be possible – if I hadn’t taken a chance on this new technology. The product I purchased was of good quality its brand name is Jasper and Jasper- has lasted into my 6th month and saved me (estimating) $600, easily – so far – since I no longer purchase cigarettes.

I am the first to comment lol!

I am a recent customer for e-cigs. After a few months of waivering, using the e-cig as a cutting down device I took the plunge and chose to stop smoking altogher. I am in my mid 40s and health concerns made me switch. It is the best thing I ever did. I am now saving money, feeling healthier and very happy. Give it a go – it may save your life. In the first week of giving up I thought I would just try a regular cigarette – ughh! it really tasted terrible in comparison to the e-cig. The toxins and poisons I had read about really semed apparent now! I have been a hardened 40 a day smoker for the last 15 years, before that 20-30 a day. Past attempts to stop smoking left me anxious and depressed. E-cigs do the job as regular cigarettes once you have adjusted, it is the only way to go if you can’t quit naturally.

My wife and I have been medium to healthy smokers for as long as we can remember. We picked up a few e cigs last week and stopped smoking real cigs 4 days ago. We have absolutely no cravings for real cigs. The nicotine is what we are addicted to and not the tobacco. I tried to quit several times and never made it past one month. Very moody and depressed all the time. I recommend e cigs to anyone out there that is ready to stop the tobacco. This is the best thing that has happened to me in years.

I used the patch and ecigs to quit 2 years ago, got completely nicotine free, returned to smoking 6 months later, now using patch and ecigs again, this time, using patch to step down, and will just stick with ecigs. It would be better to be completely free from nicotine, but it is a heck of allot better than smoking those nasty analog cigs health wise. The ecigs do work, and I’m not in a pissy mood etc. Slight adjustment is needed at first, but it’s totally manageable. I know quitting smoking is hard, but ecigs help manage the addiction quite well, and your not inhaling all those other carcinogens, you don’t reek of that nasty tobacco smell, your taste and sense of smell come back, and it costs about half the price. I told my Mom about them, she texted me the next day wanting the number for the ones I was using.. (I use the blue ones). I recommend to everyone everywhere I can.
